Art and Illusion By Paul Taylor

I was recommended to look into trompe - l'oeil artwork as this is to do with perspectives and illusion within art, something which I am keen to look into. Whilst on the library website I came across a text called Art and Illusion which I thought would be relevant. The text is by Paul Taylor, who looks into and reviews Celeste Brusatis text 'Artifice and Illusion. The Art and Writing of Samuel Van Hoogstraten'. Although a lot of this article is Taylor criticising the way Brusati talked about Van Hoogstraten I did find it interesting. It gave me an insight into how painters use illusions and vanishing points. I found out that there are two main methods to go about this also. After reading this I feel now I have many more avenues to go down with my research into this topic and also a wider range of artists to look into.
